FAITH'S GARDEN
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Tallow?
Tallow is rendered beef suet, or fat, that has been used for centuries for its therapeutic properties. It is rich in bioavailable fat-soluble vitamins such as A, D, E, K, and B12, making it an excellent ingredient for skincare. Tallow is similar to the skin’s cellular makeup, allowing it to easily penetrate the skin’s lipid barrier and provide deep hydration without clogging pores.
Where do you source your tallow from?
We source our beef suet from local farmers and ranchers in Georgia who practice regenerative farming without the use of vaccines, hormones, or chemicals on their cattle or land. We then render the beef suet into tallow. All cattle are grass-fed and grass-finished, ensuring high-quality tallow for our products.
Do I need to refrigerate my tallow?
Tallow is naturally shelf-stable and does not need to be refrigerated. Store your tallow cream in a cool, dry location, and it will remain good for 6 months to 1 year depending on your handling and care of the product.
How do I use tallow balms?
Our tallow balms and creams are versatile and can be used for various skin types and even skin concerns. Used on the face, neck, and/or body, tallow is a great option for dry skin, chapped lips, mature skin, facial moisturizer, diaper rash, bug bites, sunburn, stretch marks and scars, acne, cracked heels, makeup remover, and more.
A little goes a long way. We always recommend starting with clean, dry hands and applying a light layer on skin. Although we do not advertise any of our products as being used to treat or cure any illness or condition, tallow can be beneficial in caring for skin concerns such as eczema. Simply apply the balm to the affected area as needed for relief and nourishment.
What is the quality of your ingredients?
Quality is a top priority when it comes to sourcing and or harvesting each and every ingredient we use. We have partnered with local farmers in Georgia to ensure we have a top-quality source for grass-fed and grass-finished tallow. Our rendering method is of great importance in the quality of our tallow products, as we use a traditional method that maintains all nutrients in the finished product.
Our herbs and flowers are mainly obtained from local or domestically grown herbs and flowers from small farms. If these are not accessible, we produce them from internationally grown sources, but they must be ethically wildcrafted or certified organic. Typically this happens then the flower, herb, or resin is native to that area and we are able to source it directly.
What makes your products different?
At Faith’s Garden, we are dedicated to only using organic and wildcrafted ingredients in small-batch productions. Our tallow is grass-fed and grass-finished, sourced from local farmers who practice sustainable agriculture. Our rendering method ensures that all the fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals in the tallow are preserved for maximum quality.
Shipping during hot temperatures
During high temperatures, we take extra precautions to ensure that your whipped tallow balms arrive in pristine condition. For all orders containing these delicate products, a signature is required upon delivery to safeguard your purchase from potential melting.
If for any reason your tallow isn’t “fluffy” or “whipped” when you receive it…
Tallow is a mostly saturated fat, causing it to change consistency with varying temperatures. During transit, your tallow whip may have changed slightly and should resume it’s normal whipped consistency once settled at room temperature. You can also place it in the fridge to accelerate the cooling process for a short time. If it does not return to it’s whipped form, you will be left with a “balm” which will still give you all of the very same wonderful skin benefits. A smaller amount will go further with a balm, so keep that in mind as you apply. If you tallow freezes during travel, let it sit at room temperature as well.
